Bio
Susan S. Webb is a renowned artist living in Stantonsburg, NC. Her art education began at Wilson Community College and included classes in painting, photography, and stained glass making. Extensive study in painting followed at Barton College under the direction of J. Chris Wilson, Ben Bridgers, Maureen O’Neil and Susan Fecho.
Susan studied under Mel Stanforth of East Carolina University. The mediums she has used in these classes include oil, acrylic, pastel and mixed media. She has studied Photoshop under the direction of Gerard Lange at Barton College. Susan is a serious art student and considers herself a lifelong learner. She continues art study at Barton College Continuing Ed program and Wilson Community College. Her paintings include landscapes, still life, portraits and abstracts.
Susan holds a Bachelors degree in elementary education and a Masters of Education in Exceptional Children. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from East Carolina University. She worked in public schools in North Carolina and Virginia for 31 years as a teacher and administrator.
She has taught students with learning disabiltes, mentally handicapped, physical handicapped and behaviorally handicapped from Preschool to 12th grade."This experience taught me so much about compassion for all people and that every life has a purpose and contibution in life."
Susan is an active member in the Wilson arts community. Webb has been a longtime member of the Wilson Active Artists Association and has served as newsletter editor, Vice President and as President. She also served three years on the Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Wilson and continues to serve on the Visual Arts Committee there.
Webb has exhibited her art throughout North Carolina. Some of them include group exhibitions in Rocky Mount, New Bern, and several exhibits each year at Barton College, the Arts Council of Wilson and the Spring Arbor Fall Fantasy Show, Mims Gallery at Wesleyan College, and Knightdale, NC exhibit at the Town Hall.
She also has been the featured artist at various eastern North Carolina exhibits including the Nash Arts Center, Farmville Arts Center, Wilson Active Artists Association, Spring Arbor Assisted Living, and the Hammond Gallery in Wilson. Her work has been on display at the Eye Center in Wilson, The Emergency Veterinary Center in Wilson, and the Greene County Interfaith Food Pantry in Snow Hill, 124 Art Gallery in Wilson and many other places.
Susan’s art work is in private residences in several states in the United States. She has her own private studio at her residence which is open for viewing by appointment.
